<< 72 Squared WeblogIn search of a bigger monitor
I develop websites on my mac powerbook. It's portable. I take it with
me everywhere. I run Apache 2 with PHP and mysql or postgresql. This
allows me to write code that I can port to any project. At work, we use
MS SQL Server, but my dao objects allow me to easily switch between
databases.

Occasionally, I feel a little cramped for space, though. my 15" inch screen gets extremely crowded. At work, I plug in an extra 19 inch monitor that makes it easier to handle, but at home or at a coffee shop I wish I had a bigger screen. Not that I really need it. Before I got my powerbook, I used a 12' inch ibook, and although I felt a little cramped, I could still do the work.
Maybe some day I will be able to scrape together enough money to buy a 17 powerbook. A little bit more to drag around with me, but I think I can manage. Except on an airplane. I am 6 foot 4 inches, and can barely fit in the coach passenger seats. With my 15 inch laptop, I already have to prop the keyboard up on my chest to see the screen. There's no way I could even open a 17 inch laptop. Right now I don't travel a lot, so I don't think it's an issue. Or I can always keep my current laptop as a backup.
By the way, when do you think they will start making a 17 powerbook G5? I want one now! Maybe for christmas. That would be nice.
