<< 72 Squared WeblogIron chef meets web design
So I was watching Iron Chef re-runs on the food network last night: Iron chef Marimoto vs. Bobby Flay. I think they were cooking trout. They scooped the fish out of a tank with a big net and ran across the kitchen dripping water everywhere. It was crazy!
Got me to thinking though ... Why doesn't web design have something like that? Set up a huge stadium with gigantic monitors, the fastest computers, and amazingly talented designers and development firms from across the country. Give them a theme, and have them design a stunning site. Turn it into a sporting event. How fast can a designer come up with a concept and make it work? Try designing in photoshop or ImageReady and turning a design into something amazing in less than an hour? Could it be done? For me, reading Masters of Flash was a similar experience. Here you had the top designers from all over the world presenting their work - on the cutting edge of design and programming. It elevated them to celebrity status for me. I still remember many of the designers in that book. What would it have been like to see them on TV, designing on the fly?
