<< 72 Squared WeblogMy favorites: web design and coffee
I love coffee. Kona. French roast. Columbia. I also love talking shop with other web developers. But I'm pretty much limited to talking to other developers online. I guess its only natural for me to want to combine the coffee house experience with my favorite subject.
Last night I was at the coffee shop designing and I ran into another web designer. We got to talking and it made me realize that although San Jose, CA is the high-tech capital of the world and everyone claims to know something about web design, there aren't many times when I connect with anybody who does the same thing I do at work.
I work on this project alone, and my company relies on me to write programs that allow us to outsource all of the work to other departments. The web designer I was talking to last night suggested a forum. Of course you can do an online forum, but it's not the same as getting together face to face. I am as much a technophile as the next web developer. But the dynamic is completely different when you talk to someone in person. I think it's a trust thing.
I would like to start a monthly gathering in my area of web designers to shoot the breeze, trade ideas, etc. If anyone in the Santa Cruz, CA is interested, let me know.
